My great-uncle Gordon was a young teenager working on a farm in Illinois when the Tri-State Tornado hit. He was picked up by the storm, carried almost a mile, and then set down without a stitch of clothing on his body. A few weeks later his pants were returned to him from a family in Indiana who found them in their yard after the storm. They found his wallet with an ID card of some sort inside and mailed them back to him.

When he first told me this story, I thought he was pulling my leg, but he has a clipping from a newspaper that talks about the return of his pants.

Forgot about checking the CA website. I went and read the comments, someone just said a tact unit is now at the mall area to guard it.

Others think it’s time for the mall to come down anyway...

I have a friend in Nashville, TN - she is under tornado watch - are you still online - can you please ping me back if you see anything bad in her area. I talked with her earlier about getting in an interior closet if she hears a freight train. But she goes to bed early. Please ping me re: Nashville tornado warnings. TWC reported one just went through downtown Nashville about 5 to 10 minutes ago.

Friend in Fairview is hysterical. Her trailer is OK but her neighbor’s house is gone. Said the tornado went right over her.

They are moving everybody to the basement of the hockey arena. Game still going on.

She doesn’t live in a trailer park (aka tornado bait). She has a modular home (same as a trailer in my mind) on top of a hill. We called her and they went to a neighbor’s house. Their other neighbor’s house is gone.

Thanks for those reports - ugh. I hesitate to call her now. I don’t know which side of Nashville she is on...she just moved there last July.
