Actually he may not have that right.

I believe "OATS", of Hall and Oats tried to do the same thing to the Bush'04 campaign with the song "Still the One". The only problem was, the Bush'04 campaign had a right to use the song, since they leased the song through a music library service. Following the rules that "RIAA", require. But the campaign decided that the song was not needed to get the president's message through.

I guess these "Artists" were not smart enough, to make sure that they retain control of their product. When they gave all control to the record companies, the true members of "RIAA", for a few cents a copy in future royalties. And their rights, to how the song can be used.

I wonder what these artists think when the military uses their music, in psyop warfare? Remember the US Army used rock music, at the Vatican embassy in Panama, to get Noriega, out of the compound. And just the other day, the Egyptian Army used Yoko Ono's music to close the border between Egypt & Gaza. I wonder if Egypt, will stop using her music in the future, when the need arrives, or if they even paid the licensing fees. It would be interesting if she tried to stop them, or force them to pay royalty fees for their use in the future. See previous FreeRepublic Post:

Still the One, was done by the band Orleans. I believe it was written by band member (and lead vocalist) John Hall, who is now a US Congressman (D) from upstate New York.
