To start off with, read Reardon’s book on Glaser and his lifelong study and observation of Wolves and then open your mouth. He had personally witnessed tens of thousands of instances when wolves would chase Caribou and grab their tongues as they panted and rip them out for fun. They did not eat the tongues. They also performed running evisceration's even more times than they went after tongues by slashing open the belly of running Caribou and Moose and letting the entrails drag until the animals tripped over them. They ate less than 3% of what they killed in an unchecked environment. Maybe you don’t think they kill for a basketball or a football or something, were these the sports that you were referring to?!?!

Alright, alright. I'm sorry. I assumed that coming from a ranger he would know what he was talking about. I wasn't trying to pretend to be a know it all, just passing on what I heard from someone who seemed reputable. I'll take your word, as you have done much research.
