Not being an animal expert but having had several pets (lol), I wouldn't be surprised at all to learn that wolves would attack and kill just about anything they came across. Most dogs will defend their fenced in backyard from such dangers as birds, squirrels, mice and frogs...killing them if they can catch them.
Is that sport (as humans define it) or their instinctive behavior? I believe that the video wanted to portray the wolves in a certain way and I think they were pretty successful at it. Personally, I don't think the wolves should be decimated any more than I think they should be completely protected. Farmers should definitely be allowed to protect their herds but maybe they should get something a little tougher than the barbed wire fence I saw in the pictures. Wolfhounds...for instance. LOL

After I what Jmack wrote tonight I believe it some type of instinctive response. But they also teach their young to hunt that well result in extra animals killed not for food.
I read up on wolf hounds in the book Wolves in Russia if you really want to learn more about wolves a great book. Even the wolfhounds need a man as a back up or more wolfhounds then wolves.
The whole problems is people are not allow to protect their livestock cows, horses, dogs, chickens, turkeys, duck and geese. That is all everyone want stop the games the wolf is doing great now let the people control them.
How about 100’s of Fox Terriers? LOL
