SNIP. . . . ..crews were on the scene of the slide around 3:30 p.m., just hours after completing avalanche-control work and reopening the highway pass at 11 a.m. The new slide, 150 feet long and 30 feet deep, shut down the westbound lanes and trapped two vehicles with three people in them. Merrill said all three got out safely but crews were checking for more stranded vehicles Wednsday afternoon.
Westbound traffic was closed at milepost 81 at Cle Elum and at milepost 54 near Hyak.
