Get this, John Lewis, Georgia congressman and former assistant to MLK, jr said this yesterday:
"Ive been saying during the past day or so that the election of Barack Obama is a major down payment on the dream. The dream is not paid in full, he says. Theres still work to do. Weve come a distance, weve made progress, but we still have a distance to go.
Down payment. A bumpy, bumpy road... again.
I understand.
I don’t have any rancor. I wasn’t in Country for all the prelims or the debates or much of anything really. No trench warfare for me this time. Not quite sure why, but just couldn’t do it.
I didn’t vote for Obama but I do wish him well and hope for his success. God knows our Country needs it. So, guess those are my thoughts.
I am totally amazed at this man’s popularity. It beats anything I’ve ever seen. Scares me a bit if it falls. There’s just no possible way he can live up to all the expectations he has created for himself. IMO.
