The song, “Time to say Goodbye” is a very touching one. Andrea Bocelli has a beautiful voice, but he has made some serious mistakes. He was appearing in concert in Phoenix, several years ago, and a group of girls wanted to go. We went to order tickets, and the only way we could get them, was to pay by GOLD American Express. No other credit card would be accepted. So - we all missed the concert, and not one of us ever bought another recording by him.
I talked to another friend in another state, and the same thing happened there. And, no more recording purchases from them, either.
Another thing that he should have considered was more popular music (like Josh Groban does.) But, he wanted to go solely opreratic, and refused. More lost sales.
But this song, “Time to say Goodbye” was played by my friends, as we sat in the kitchen and wept, just before we left for the funeral of one of our dear friends.
It does seem to be a terrible business decision. Perhaps they did not realise that American Express is rather a minor player in the Credit Card stakes in the US. It probably had more cachet in Europe at that time. A very bad move on their part I must say.
