My daughter arrived today only one hour late on her last leg. She had quite a rough journey with turbulence most of the way from SF to London – but the landing in London was hair raising because of the cross winds.

Remember that vid I posted of a plane trying to land in Germany and it finally aborted and took off before landing. The exact same thing happen when Jane´s plane was trying to land at Heathrow London, except the plane actually landed and skidded sideways until the pilot finally regained control and straightened it up.

The co-pilot told all the passengers to tighten their seat belts and put their heads down for a hard landing. The plane came in with wings dipping and the aircraft rolling and skewing while in the air. In a momentary abatement of the wind they touched down hard and then skidded sideways on the wet run way.

Afterwards everyone wanted to thank the pilot for saving their lives – it turned out to be a woman.

Whew! It must have scared the daylights out of her. Thank God it turned out well.

Uh, Cardi, Dahlin', you may have posted the harrowing video of the plane trying to land in Germany on some site but I posted it here. :)

The weather has been bizzare. I expect she caught the current wave of storms as she came across the country and probably the tail end of the nutty weather we had last week as she crossed the ocean. Last week, we actually had snow flurries in South Louisiana. I didn’t see any in my neighborhood but I saw lots of footage on the evening news of a light dusting in nearby neighborhoods. Snow on freshly bloomed out magnolias, camilias, azaleas and in palm tree fronds is very strange looking.

They all should have bought the pilot a drink! I can’t imagine anyone didn’t want one.

Wow Cardy, that must have been horrible. Thank goodness she arrived ok. I don’t know how she flies that often and that far. It would do me in. :(

We have had terrible winds here too, but they calmed down today.

I can’t stay long as we just finished our Little Neck clams in a wine and garlic sauce, and now I have the Baked Haddock Florentine in the oven. Yum! ;)

Cardi, yesterday, I was so busy teasing you about who posted the video that I forgot to ask on which airline was your daughter flying during that frightful landing.
