I read Iman Maleki´s bio and was curious about his teacher, Morteza Katouzian who, he claimed, was the greatest Realist painter in Iran.

Here is the bio of his teacher who was self-trained. He must be very very good to nurture such a pupil as Iman Maleki.

Perhaps you will find some resonance in your own life with the tale he tells:

Morteza Katouzian

After reading Katouzian’s bio, I wanted to see what his work was like. His depression is very visible in many of his sketches and paintings. Some of his pieces remind me Salvador Dali’s work, others are so brutally painful, and some portray a very deep sadness. (There appears to be a touch of madness buried in his canvas.) Of course, that is just my opinion. Check for yourself:

Thank you, I’ll read it later.

When I was asked to teach the class a big concern was how to let the students develop their style while critiquing them. Turns out that it wasn’t as hard as I’d thought it would be and I enjoy the styles of them all.
