Biloxi Teacher Accused Of Sexual Contact With Student

A Biloxi school teacher is under investigation for allegedly having sexual contact with a teenage student.

Biloxi police say they arrested Rebecca Bogard, 27, on Friday, after the teen's family filed a complaint. Bogard is charged with one-count of sexual battery.

Bogard is a first-year Science teacher at Fernwood Alternative School, also known as the Center for New Opportunities. Police say the alleged incident involved a 15-year old male student who attends the school.

It seems unlikely that these charges are valid. She is a Masters Degreed teacher who leaves a district Elementary School for the "troubled youth" school; trouble as in criminal, behavioral, drugs, expelled. (The Biloxi Instructional Program description is linked and below.) A troubled parent of a troubled kid swears out a criminal complaint with a possible motive of revenge, mischief, payback to the world, who knows. The miscreants may be sliming this lady for any number of reasons or no reason. She is taking the rap across the world for all the recent teacher sexploitation of students. That's my read on these events but time will revel all.

BILOXI ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAMS - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES IDDI

The alternative education program for students enrolled in the Biloxi Public Schools will provide educational opportunities for students who are not able to respond appropriately to regular education. The goal of the alternative education program shall be to assist the student to achieve successful learning experiences and modified social behavior that will entitle him/her to return to and reenter her/his home school in order to graduate.

Students who are considered for assignment to the alternative school may exhibit one or more of the following characteristics:

1. Repeated inappropriate behavior (verbal/physical aggression);
2. Substance abuse;
3. Student returning from training facility or court jurisdiction or other alternative school programs;
4. Special education student with behavioral problems who is determined through all appropriate interventions and assessments related to his/her IEP to be eligible for assignment to the alternative education program;
5. Special education student who has been recommended for expulsion from the Biloxi Public School District. Provision is made for review of individual students at the end of each school term to determine reentry into the regular school program.

The Center for New Opportunities (CNO) will serve as the site for the Biloxi Public School District alternative education program. Regulations governing procedural operations for the alternative school program can be found in the Alternative School Handbook.
