nVidia owns the $600 gaming card market, and ATI is trying to stay in business by owning the low end and middle price market.
It will be interesting to see whether HD can drive sales the way games have. Up till now it’s been difficult to have a media PC, what with all the DRM crap.

It still can’t beat Nvidia. ATI doesn’t have the ease of switching windows like NVidia (you know, click on the button in the tool bar at the upper right hand corner and voila, you can put a window unto the adjacent monitor). Until it does, NVidia will win every time.
