I have a Maytag side by side refrigerator/freezer.
MSD2454FR
(Dunno what that number is, but was on tag inside.)
For two days it's been making a "clicking" noise like a thermostat on a coffee maker.
Tonight I just noticed the freezer is leaking. The ice in the icemaker is melting and the food is thawing. I cranked the temp control to highest point. Dunno if it's going to make a difference.
My guess is that the "clicking" noise was the icemaker filling up with water to replace the melting ice.
Any ideas?
Thanx.
Personal experience? I hope not.
I always used a butcher knife and a hammer. I ruined two iceboxes defrosting my freezer. Strictly frost free now. (cheaper in the long run) lolol
Global warming.
We have a huge 40 year old “lay down” freezer, Monkey Ward model and it works fine. Looks like hell with the rust but it works great. Have another Wards upright frost free about 10 years old and it is sick. I think the defrost timer is out. Moved to storage (thought we had a close on our home sale) brought it out of storage after three months and it worked after we plugged it in, then stopped. When you plug it in, it makes a swishing sound sort of like an ice maker. Haven’t had the energy to go out and test it yet. Hubby says he can take it to a repair guy but I’d rather work on it. I do all the electric repairs in our house.
All you have to do is use a butter knife! :)
Butter knife? Yeah, but hot water, a butcher knife and a hammer worked every time but TWICE. lolol :)
Also, it helps if you fix the ice maker so it doesn't keep dumping water out.:)
