Happy Birthday, Cary Grant
blog post ^ | 1/18/08 | John Van Rijn

A little levity and a pleasant break from all the primary politics.

A beautiful tribute to a man's man. No metrosexuals here.

Enjoy.

Jennifer Grant, Cary's daughter, graduated from Stanford University.

I was answering PREACHER, not you.

While busily smearing someone with gossip. It would be a feather in the cap of gays to smear Grant. And they are trying. The problem is that he was a woman-chaser.

Randolph Scott will come back from the grave and kick anybody’s butt who claims he was gay.

The point is, who cares?

Evidently someone does. I just get so sick of the gay rumour mill.

I saw Cary Grant in the 60's. He had on a grey suit that set off his silvering hair to perfection. He was working for Faberge then.

I was basing that on an event from ‘01. Maybe he changed his mind again. You gotta like Robert Duvall though!

Exactly right...

Wow, I was just this minute thinking of “The Egg and I” among these same type movies I like. GMTA!

LOL, then I started humming “On horse flies is, in comb bees is - on chest, knob is; in knob, key is” - thinking that was in “The Egg and I.”

But it wasn’t, it was another farm-style Fred McMurray movie - “Murder He Says” (I think). Ma & Pa Kettle may have been in that one, too.

Back to Cary!

You have got to be kidding. Why is Kevin Costner's name introduced into a thread about an actual actor?

I think that whenever a man is stunningly handsome and dresses well, some people say he’s gay. The gays always want to claim one for their team, and some straight men who might be just a little envious or suspicious of an extremely handsome man also wonder out loud if there’s something a little feminine about being handsome.

"I can not marry you. Insanity runs in the family. Actually it gallops."

Arsenic and Old Lace is my favorite comedy. The triple take Grant gives after discovering another "maleria" victim is priceless.

Isn’t Dyan Cannon her mom? I can’t believe that pic of her on the first page. Barely remember her looking like that. I never could stand her, even tho everyone liked her so much. She’s just “too too.”

I could never see what he saw in her and I thought she was fugly, had a smooshed-in face that looked like a Pekingese pup, lol. To me, she and the girl who was married to Charlie Sheen, Denise Richards, look just alike. I think Cannon trashed Grant, too - allegations of cruelty.

There! That feels good to have said it. And admittedly, she has been funny in some of the roles she has played in more recent years. Still, ugh!

Grant admitted he slept w/ a man several times in his later years “ to see the experience”. He toured acting groups giving classes on acting when the admission was made
