The store and everyone in it did her a disservice by not calling the police.

The police could have arrested her, and then the process could have begun to have her committed.

She is keeping company with a predator.
He is papparazzi. He is having sex with a mentally ill woman, and most likely taking photos that he will try to sell later.

If someone, somewhere does not step in and commit her, she is going to wind up dead, and the photogs will gleefully document THAT.

If someone, somewhere does not step in and commit her,...

I hear she has a very good mother with excellent parenting skills.

P.S. I heard on the radio this morning something about her sister Jamie is now doping and drinking it up during her pregnancy.

The photographers probably think she's going to end up dead. They intend to be there to photograph and document it.

Good analysis.

Miss Spears is clearly mentally ill and obviously requires long-term hospitalization.

However, she will not commit herself and no one close to her will have her committed because everyone close to her depends on her for their livelihood and does not want to be cut off from their source of income.

Usually an insane person is a drain on the family's resources and earning power and the decision to have them committed makes economic sense.

Here it doesn't.

Also, if she is committed, there will likely be an enormous legal fight over who should have power of attorney over her estate while she is incapacitated.

What should happen is that her parents and the father of her children should agree to have her committed, agree to some power of attorney arrangement and ask that a court-appointed trustee be given responsibility for financial decisions.

Because no one close to her wants to risk being permanently shut out from the trough, no one is stepping up and doing what needs to be done.

They are all waiting for her to get herself killed or committed for a criminal offense.
