I think you're right for worldwide recordings. For the U.S. alone, though, I'm not sure, because both 'White Christmas' and 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' were recorded almost countless times. In any case, when done right 'Yesterday' is beautiful. By far the Beatles' best ballad.
