She looks drop-dead gorgeous tonight. Her family is in the audience for the first time, maybe that's why.
She sings "Yesterday." She sits on a stool, with a guy playing accoustic guitar at her feet.
Wow, she's really nailing this.
Randy: You took some liberties ... my estimation: very, very, very good performance.
Paula: You let yourself be very vulnerable. That vulnerablity is where you need to be. You've got a beautiful instrument.
Simon: Thought that was probably your best performance so far. You chose the best song. You sold the song very, very well. That song, that peformance should keep you in this competition.
I agree.
Remember a few days ago I was wondering if anyone would tackle 'Hey Jude' or 'Yesterday?' Either song, done right, can make a singer look very, very good. 'Hey Jude' is their highest selling single in the U.S., and 2nd highest selling worldwide.
'Yesterday' is a lovely sweet/sad love-lost ballad that could easily tilt to campy melodrama if sung over-the-top like so many pop singers do these days. I'm not surprised no one tackled the difficult 'Hey Jude,' but am proud of Syesha for trying 'Yesterday' and pulling it off.
