My guess is that the Missus has been part of this since the beginning. Like she knew about the rape charge and the pregnancy.
Maybe they were planning on taking the baby and making it look like Marie and skipped town. Something went wrong in the procuremnet process-— and Marie and the baby died.
So, they cleaned house and disposed of the body/s. But the family kept making a stink. SO, plan two. Him running and her trying to make out like there was a suicide that went south.
IOW, I think the wife is as guilty as the husband. As you can tell, I’m feeling really cranky today. But if you paint the walls after a murder, you’re guilty of sumtin’.
apologies if this a repeat - but the wife had motives for murder or acquiescing. Hubby was about to be booted out of the Marines if charged & found guilty of rape OR subject to losing income for Maria’s child’s support. Maria’s career as a Marine was also at risk.
It’s always possible the three of them met to discuss how to resolve the crisis and her demise was either pre-meditated or an emotionally charged discussion escalated into a violent confrontation.
Due to the amateur burning, burial and blood cleanup, I’m inclined to consider the latter.
