Rick Sutherland speaks out in comments section on JDN. I may never be able to answer all of the questions, and right now I am in a position where I can't even answer most of them. I can clear up one item for you. The ticket was purchased on the 14th. When it was purchased it was to be redeemed on the 15th. There was some confusion about this early on. We believe the ticket was purchased by Maria and we believe it was purchased before the time that we think she was killed. I understand that you can only base your own conclusions on the information that has been released, and that puts the public at a disadvantage. We can not release everything that we have discovered. When we have to balance the ability to convict a suspect in court versus what we can tell the public, we have to err on the side of prosecution. I will say again that if we develop probable cause that anyone else was involved before or after the fact, we will charge that person in relation to this crime. To this point, that has not occurred. Curious. There was some confusion early on about the bus ticket. It was purchased on the 14th, to be redeemed on the 15th. We believe it was purchased by Maria before she was murdered. We do not release photos of witnesses or victims, except in special circumstances. Marias photos were released because she was reported to us as a missing person who was also 8 months pregnant. We reached out to the public for assistance in finding her. Cesars photos were released because we have drawn warrants for him and needed the publics assistance in locating him. Any images that we have released to the media of Cesar that also contained photos of Christina, we asked them not to show her photo to conform to our policy. If they obtain a photo on their own, we would have no authority over them to keep them from airing it if their producers chose to. It is not the place of our Office to encourage or discourage her in reference to speaking publicly. She continues to be a cooperating witness with our office, and she has legal counsel.
