A North Carolina congressman today urged the Mexican president to help with the search for Corporal Cesar Laurean.
In his letter, Congressman Walter Jones urges President Felipe Calderon to use whatever resources are available in Mexico to help find Laurean as quickly as possible. Jones also asks that if Laurean is caught in Mexico that authorities return him to Onslow County to face charges.
The Marine corporal is wanted for killing Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach and burying her body in his backyard.
Laurean, who was born in Mexico, is a naturalized U.S. citizen. The FBI now believes Laurean has fled to his native country where he still has family.
Jones represents the third congressional district, which includes Onslow County and Camp Lejeune.
Well, I’m glad Congressman Jones is writing a letter. Maybe he should also lobby Pres. Bush to have a little talk, put a little pressure on the Mexican Pres. to get his Marine back. He is his COC.
I am still stunned at how big and public this manhunt has become. It’s quite unusual when you think that quite a few other women (even pregnant women) have been murdered in the US. I’ve never seen this much effort put into a hunt.
