Regarding the trees....

I think that’s a tree line at the edge of there land. Not so much a wooded area though....just looks like a line of trees or bushes to me!

Is that a photo of Mr & Mrs. L??

Does she have blonde hair extensions.

Wish we had a forensic digital photo spectographologist(?) on the thread

He’s 5’9” so she’s about 5’2”.

Not a big woman.

My neighbor drove past there yesterday. She said there is nothing there to suggest it’s a crime scene except for some tire tracks on the side of the house and some slow moving vehicles moving down the street...obviously trying to get a glimpse.

Or she has a blond wig. There should be a high school photo of the little wife. From what I heard today, she might be an accomplice after the fact if not before. Painting the garage around Christmas! Yeah, right! The burning of Maria and the little baby is so gruesome, I fear I’ll have nightmares. Imagine what Maria suffered and now her family.

The honey-do list gets long and those Holiday leaves can be handy.

1) take out the trash.

2) bury your husband's mistress

3) paint the garage

You are right!

And they have a young child. This means she would have maternity uniform.

***This means she would have maternity uniform.***

Oh! You mean if she impersonated pregnant Maria Lauterbach to buy the bus ticket?

That was probably the biggest mistake in the Laureans’ timeline. Maria was most likely killed on Dec.14th after which the *$700 was withdrawn and then the bus ticket was purchased on Dec 15th.
*The ATM video surveillance confirmed it was Lauterbach - but in a maternity uniform - wonder if Christina could have pulled off a sufficient likeness.

Great catch apo!!!!

Marine Corps timeline for Dec 14th.

On Friday, December 14, 2007, LCpl Lauterbach reported to work as normal. The work day ended at 12 noon as the command was having a Christmas party. Attendance was not mandatory and LCpl Lauterbach elected not to attend. That morning Sgt Durham saw her car at the home when leaving for work.

At this point, we’ll discuss a few things that occurred December 14th that the command did not know until sometime later. For example, when Sgt Durham arrives home from work, he finds a note left for him by LCpl Lauterbach stating, “I could not take this Marine Corps life anymore. So I am going away. Sorry for the inconvenience. Maria.” Sgt Durham notices that some of her personal items are missing. She does not leave the house key behind. Sgt Durham calls LCpl Lauterbach’s sister concerning the note. Shortly after this conversation, LCpl Lauterbach’s Mother calls Sgt Durham. Sgt Durham text messages a junior member of LCpl Lauterbach’s work section indicating his belief she was going into an Unauthorized Absence status, commonly referred to as “going UA.” There is an ATM withdrawal of $700 from LCpl Lauterbach’s account. Transaction occurs in Jacksonville. Video surveillance confirms LCpl Lauterbach makes the withdrawal. The ATM information is not provided to the command until January 9th. Please remember LCpl Lauterbach was at work on Friday, was not required to attend the Christmas party, and therefore was not required to be at work until Monday morning.

Did Maria confide this information to anyone else?

Appears that Cesar was very candid about intentions go to Mexico with his buddies, should things "go south".

It was handwritten. Several on this thread have made comments about the tense she used when she wrote "I could not take this Marine life"...vs. I can't...

This link indicates the military thought it matched her handwriting. CNN

The handwriting appeared to match Lauterbach's, Sokoloski said. Durham also noticed some of Lauterbach's personal items and her car were gone.

However, civilian authorities began questioning it after she turned up dead. It's been sent out for handwriting analysis. WRAL

The note from Laurean and the note Lauterbach left for her roommate have been sent to a handwriting expert for analysis, Sutherland said.

"We have received that (Lauterbach) note, and it's already been submitted to our crime lab. We don't have anyone here within our department that is an expert at analyzing handwriting," he said.

If it's fake, the killer left one too many clues back to himself. If it's real, it just supplements the story that she was upset and leaving.

***Did Maria confide this information to anyone else?***

Don’t remember reading anywhere that she was depressed. She had made a new nest in the off base housing and had a good relationship with Sgt. Durham. Seemed to be looking forward to preparing for the baby’s birth. Kept her Nov.26th appt. Of course, there was a discussion with her mother about adoption options.

Such a cryptic note - very cleverly worded.

Question for those who have followed this more closely than I have: was this, and/or the other notes we’ve read about, handwritten, or typewritten?
