It was over $4000 for the ticket just to get here, and another $3500 or so for the return ticket. Business class.
So bringing the family is out of the question. Plus, working 12 hours a day plus 1.5 hours travel, give or take, doesn’t leave a lot of time for family.
My daughter was happy with Lake Erie this summer. Maybe we’ll get to the Atlantic shore some year. But flying to South America? Never in a million years.
my dad worked in construction when i was growing up. we went to Lake Erie once or twice, and we went to NJ shore once, i think, my entire childhood. I went to So America with the Latin American studies program at Pitt, i think it was ridiculously cheap too, bc it was subsidized by Pitt’s LA studies program. You’ll have to save the trip for the after winning the lottery schedule then. We have a few places on that list. Numero uno is Belize.
Everybody always wants to move after they win the lotto. I’m the other way around. I like where I’m at. I want to pay all my neighbors to leave. That shares the wealth in an interesting way.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Lakemont Park in Altoona has a swimming pool/kiddie pool/water slides/roller coasters/amusement rides/etc. for $2 per person on Wednesday in the Summer.
Can’t beat that with a stick.
86 miles from home.
Me too. I like my house and neighborhood but I would happily relocate the weeknight partiers on the street behind us.
I wonder if any of those difficulties will relate to a former secretary of state leaving her laptop containing sensitive and classified information insecure so that spies selling such information to hostile nations can copy and transmit it. I seem to remember a certain windbag at the state department doing just that.
Cheetohs!
