Dr Phil, called into help Spears family as Britney mnelts down, went public with plans to air it on a special "intervention" show.
Bad move on Dr Phil's part. If she relapses, suffers ANY grief, kills herself her family( or she if she doesn't die from the "trama of her problems tossed on national TV) MAY have the rights to sue Dr Phil to high heaven ESPECIALLY if she signed anything while in the hospital. Not that I care much about Britney, but she deserves good private mental health care like every other patient in that hospital AND, if DR Phil accidently films a "borderline personality" ...losing his license will be the least of his worries.
If Dr. Phil were being at all proper in handling this, we shouldn’t be hearing any story at all. Apparently the only reason we’re hearing about it is because he wanted to have the intervention be a public, ongoing thing for him to exploit on his TV show. He had programs blocked out for the therapy and everything, so now he has to go dig up other sad cases.
Funniest line of the day.
Dr. Laura impresses me much more; but then, she’s not sucking up to a TV audience....
“I dont believe there is any violation of any code of ethics. Dr. Phil was not and is not Britneys physician. What I find maddening is the hospitals decision to release Ms. Spears. There is no way in heck a thorough evaluation could have been done in that short amount of time.”
Dr Phil is a psychologist, not a physician. When he went to her aid in response to a call, she was under his care, whether a chart was opened or not. He violated the ethical code. But he is so stinikn’ rich now he probably doesn’t need it.
The local radio station just had a one sentence “report” on this. It said that the Spears family said that Dr. Phil crossed the line by talking publicly about this.
I like Dr. Laura very much, too. I think you hit on why Dr. Laura is free to be tougher than Dr. Phil is: radio hosts are playing to narrower audiences than TV hosts are.
but we do NOT know whether the family asked him to do a show on them or not! that’s the whole point! We do not know what really happened — between agents, and publicists, and executives!
Do you think this is the first time in the entire world something like this has happened?
This report was on Fox News TV
His public comment that “Britney is in dire need of medical intervention” (or whatever he said after meeting her) was in violation of his professional code of ethics. I was shocked that he made that comment to the public. Somebody needs to do some license-yanking or at least slap some sort of ethics violation on him.
True, but Jamie Lynn has (albeit not a great one) a mom watching her back as best as a not-so-great mom can do. I don’t doubt she loves her kids, she’s just not a good mom. Brit’s whole life really plummeted when mom wasn’t around helping keep the plates spinning. Didn’t help that She actually shunned her mom for awhile.
Then there is the whole issue of the quality of her love, what she is capable of due to operating out of her own deficit. This child was thrust into play acting at a young age, sexualized at pre-puberty, etc. That would sure mix things up when it comes to mature love for a child.
Dr, Jerry Springer now.
