The moat is 33 feet across. No one believes a tiger can leap 33 feet in a single bound.

Maybe they were the one’s hired? :’) Seriously, If they were doing even some of the stuff mentioned they may need criminal defense too. Who knows? A kid dead that witnesses defend, that supposedly return to help. Two hurt. People traumatized. An expensive cat killed. Damage at the zoo, which possible could get closed. What a mess, huh?

Ever see a zoo’s budget?

Animal keepers work for peanuts.

Most keepers stay in this field for the love of animals, not for having the bucks to live in a big house.

If the cat got out, why did they put water in the moat? If it was out then what would water in the moat do???

The moat with water was designed to keep the tiger from getting a running start to jump over the low wall.

Not too many Olympic high jumpers could break the world record if they were jumping from the bottom of a swimming pool.

Thanks

I think people are strange who taunt animals. I would toss them out of any zoo I worked in if I saw that.

I agree this thing..sure does STINK.

We don’t know if the moat was 33 feet across in the 1950s; it might have been widened.

None of those stories have a tiger getting out of the pit.

Animal keepers work for peanuts.

The zoo director (Mollimo???) is on salary for approx $350,000 per year.

So no doubt, the zoo was bringing in more money than these two Indian boys.

Sure it is ~ read up on atrial fibrilation. It can, on occasion, kill you.

"33 feet in a single bound."

He'd smash his head into the concrete wall pretty good if he did.

A director for any major zoo is worth every penny he or she is paid.

Certainly there's more knowledge required and more responsibility assumed in this job than, say, a major league baseball player who earns millions per year......plus benefits.

But no one ever points out things like this, LOL.

The moat was dry for the last 20 years. This tiger did not have to jump over it. She probably ran across it in probably two or three bounds.

Then she simply leapt up the edge.

It's a chronic condition, not something that would have been caused by this incident.

350000 probably equal to 100k here. Maybe less. Things are too pricy in California.

I just read how tigers can swim. So even if one wanted to get out it could moat & all. I think this zoo needs to protect it's animals from people.

If the car was in the moat, it was not out of the enclosure.

How old are you? You write like some punk that is still wet behind the ears? Try making some sense and grow up.

Sorry but I am unaware of this zoo having a problem for decades. Please provide a link to back this up.

I bet his salary was 350k a year. Odds are not much longer.

Trust me, budgets are stringent.

Of course the top dog gets it but the trickle down effect is just that, a trickle.

I have followed this on FR since the start. I am curious, why are you so down on the zoo and not considering what may have actually transpired? Not trying to pick a fight but am a bit curious.

Tigers do not need to be provoked nor do any of their close cat relatives ~ that includes lions, housecats, etc.

Cats take swipes at things out of curiosity, not just anger, or hunger.

They're cats! Cats do stuff. Cats are killing machines ~ they don't even need intent to kill. That way they get fed even if they are real sweethearts.
