The two brothers injured in the Christmas Day tiger attack at the San Francisco Zoo have refused to let police examine photos on their cell phones that authorities believe were taken the day they were mauled and their friend was killed.

< snip >

"We also understand that police officers requested permission from your clients to examine any images and other contents of the cell phone. Your clients refused to cooperate with this request; consequently, no one has yet examined this potentially critical evidence."

The car was not at the scane. It came into the possession of the zoo as an "involuntary bailee". The zoo handed it over to the cops "for towing". Remember, the driver(s) were unavailable.

Rest assured, many things were done wrong.

Did that particular hospital have phones; did the victims have money; so many questions, so little time.

Now, about their calling list on their phones ~

The first reports of the tiger story said the wounded “victims” were hostile to the police. H.o.s.t.i.l.e.

The first reports claimed the boys put down a board or picnic table for the tiger to get out.

Then they claimed they "dangled their leg" over the moat so that the 400 pound tiger could (somehow) use the leg of the 160 pound boy to pull itself out of the moat.

Then they claimed there was a shoe in the moat.

Then slingshots.

Unfortunately, those were all lies by the zoo officials or the police to discredit the boys.

I would be hostile if I was one of the attacked brothers.

Not to hijack the thread but I once knew a professional thief who in "real life" piloted Air Force One on occasion.

So, yeah, people steal stuff ~ ALL THE TIME.

I think all animal abusers should die..

What evidence do you have that the boys abused the tiger?

"I don't know if what they did was any more than what kindergartners do at the zoo every day," Inspector Valerie Matthews told the Chronicle.

If our kindergardener daughter yelled "Kaw, kaw" at the eagle. What would we say if the eagle scratched her eyes out.

If she hissed at the rattlesnake, that rose up an bit her, how would we react?

"Something did happen ~ she was "terrified out of her wits" and has had recurring atrial fibrilation ~ and here's the doctor's statement."

I'm confident she won't sue, after having heard what she said. Besides, being terrified is not grounds to sue, nor is atrial fib.

The kid that taunted it got what he deserved.

What evidence do you have that the the tiger was taunted? The police say that there was NO evidence of such.

None, so until it’s proved that someone abused an animal, my opinion is just that.

The police say that there is no evidence of taunting.

And they have denied there were any slingshots.

Inspector Valerie Matthews told the Chronicle.

I have doubts about your reading ability are maybe facts just do not fit in your preconceived thoughts.?

Do you allow your child to taunt animals in the zoo? Or elsewhere? If you do then don’t be surprised at what may happen to her/him. Why not teach a child to respect animals in general? If these guys were taunting wild animals then its a whole different story. If you think its cute or alright to taunt animals don’t take your child to a zoo for their sake & the animals.

How many kids at the zoo “Kaw” to the eagle or “Hiss” at the snake.

If everyone of these kids were killed by those animals, you would have a very different attitude about this case.

There has been no evidence showing that these boys “taunted” or tortured the tiger.

There has been lots of evidence that the zoo had failed for decades to keep their tiger in the pen. In this case, their failure was fatal.

So absent taunting and slingshots, the tiger was not provoked?

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that police had found blood and a shoe inside the exhibit and were probing whether one of the victims may have placed a leg over the edge of a protective moat, aiding the tiger’s escape.

Officials are baffled as to how the animal managed to escape from the enclosure, which is separated from the viewing area by a moat and a wall.

The Chronicle cited unnamed sources close to the investigation as saying that evidence found at the scene “included a shoe and blood in an area between the gate and the edge of the ... moat.”

The report also said “pinecones and sticks that were found in the moat might have been thrown at the animal. Those items could not have landed in the grotto naturally,” according to the sources.

You are a good soul. I worked in an AZA facility for over twenty years. The AZA is tough...very tough.

These punks were looking for trouble and bit off more than they could chew. Very sad outcome for the dead boy. Very sad that the other two will end up with money that that they have no business having.

Being Christmas Day, no doubt the zoo let all non-essential employees (essential = zoological staff but limited) off.

This stinks....

The stories I could tell about animal groupies....sick. At one point in time a woman tried to sue the facility I worked for for being removed from the property. She (on many occassions, given the benefit of the doubt) was sexually manipulating the dolphins. She lost in court. People can be quite strange.

They refused to comment.

Wrong!

Police talked to Miller on Wednesday, but were not able to corroborate reports that the victims taunted the tigers. They also could not substantiate Miller's claim that a fourth person was with the attack victims, or what effect the taunting she described might have had.

"I don't know if what they did was any more than what kindergartners do at the zoo every day," Inspector Valerie Matthews told the Chronicle.

Sorry but I am unaware of this zoo having a problem for decades. Please provide a link to back this up.

I have 6 children & my children were taught to respect all creatures. Its very easy to teach a child to respect animals, domestic , wild & even in a zoo. My children weren't allowed to be BRATS in public. At home yes. However they never hurt any of our many pets over the years. I don't tolerate children abusing animals nor would I leave a child alone with any animal at a young age.
