No Slingshots at Scene of Tiger Attack
Jan. 2, 2008
Police today flatly denied a report that the three victims of the Christmas Day tiger mauling at the San Francisco Zoo were carrying slingshots on the day of the attack, which claimed the life of a 17-year-old zoo visitor.
The denial follows a report that appeared in the New York Post and cited an unnamed police source who made the slingshot claim about Carlos Sousa Jr. and brothers Paul and Kulbir Dhaliwal. Sousa was killed in the attack.

“Not talking to a cop is a constitutional right, the last I heard.”
Yeah, well usually when you’re counting on them for help instead of fearing arrest, you’ll be a little more forthcoming with what you know. Let me know how tight lipped you are with the first responders’ the next time a large carnivore mauls you, k?
If police are leaking false information to the NY Post to make the brothers look bad, they probably made a good decision not to talk to them.
PROBABLE CAUSE - A reasonable belief that a person has committed a crime.
The police were leaking false info to the N.Y. Post BEFORE they decided to not talk? OK. This is getting murkier than whatever hangs around the bottom of the hippo pool. LOL!
Besides-their records speak for themselves, they don’t really need much help in that dept. The N.Y. Post would have dug it up anyhow.
Some people working for animal rights are wackos (especially PETA), but not everyone who cares about animals is a wacko.
Rumors like this one do lots more harm than good. Groups like PETA lose even more credibility—and down the road, if someone DOES abuse zoo animals, no one will take the case seriously. I’m convinced these young men were up to no good, and maybe some day we’ll learn exactly what they were up to.
Do you have proof of this? Or are you just replacing one rumor with another?
Maybe and maybe not, but the posts here of wanting to kill people and wishing they were dead and better them than the tiger. Were so over the top as to be sicking. People who do not value human life above animals deserve nothing but scorn.
The false info came from the discussions of a city councilman and the journalist Berg.
NO. LOL! I’m not a cop, and under other circumstances I might not advocate talking to them either. This is different. Are you a gang member? You sure seem concerned about these thugs’ civil rights. Are you forgetting that someone was killed here? This is NOT about littering. What do they have to hide? Why won’t they even respond to the victim’s (their GOOD BUDDY) parents’ questions?
I’d waterboard em’. If that didn’t work I’d put Pandas’ on their heads.
Really? Well, scorn away then. I value SOME human life over animals, certainly not all--for instance, thugs, terrorists, and others whose only aim in life is to destroy, harm, and rob.

Absofreakinloutely!
The police planted the story.
“A police source has told The Post that the three victims were carrying slingshots.”

....But a few minutes later, Tatiana tracked the brothers to the snack bar while officers radioed, "SCENE IS NOT SAFE" and "SCENE IS NOT SECURE"...
It sounds like the tiger went to the snack bar for a little East Indian cuisine.
From that story:
" As the mauling investigation continued, cops denied that injured victims Amritpal Dhaliwal, 19, and his brother, Kulbir, 23, had slingshots. "A slingshot was not found in their car at the hospital or in the zoo," said Sgt. Steve Mannina.
A city official with knowledge of the investigation told The Post about the slingshots, and also said an empty vodka bottle was found in their car.
Cops and zoo officials confirmed they discovered the bottle. "
No, not killed as in murder, and if it was murder, the cops shot the one that did it.
Check the tiger cage for monkey scat...
The Zoo/Police have ventured several false stories already (slingshot, shoe in the cage, height of the wall, etc.). No sense in giving them ammunition to use against the (wrongly?) accused.
The zoo and police department deserve to be sued for all of the false information they have put out in this case.
They seem to be bigger liars than the Clinton administration.
