~any~ excuse to buy yarn. Or fabric, for that matter.
Well, it might be worthwhile to see if he’ll do a few things that would be meaningful, like perhaps put in a new cooktop... maybe even the oven, and it would be cool if he’d use that pressure washer of his and clean the outside. Those things might make a big difference. :~)
We spent the day tearing down the living room and putting it back up again. It’s half de-cluttered and reorganized, still have to do our desks and the tv/entertainment center. Put up some of the new artsy stuff we got for Christmas, and some old posters that have been put away for awhile. I think it looks better.
I spent all day painting, and Talon put together some closet-y things to go in the basement. Since the washer is down there, and so is the shower, it makes more sense to keep the clothes down there than upstairs.
Makes a lot of sense to me. :~)
Spent a good portion of the afternoon trying to find the appropriate place to put the counter-top wine cooler/fridge the Mrs. got me for Christmas. In the end we decided we don't have the right space for it and it needs to go back to the store. Which I actually knew on Christmas morning. It wasn't something I would have picked out..
We're going to wait until we get some more work done in the kitchen and we can get a larger floor standing model.
I spent a good part of the morning trying to convince ecurbh that we could take the wonder saw to the saddle rack and make it smaller. It’s a huge piece of furniture... takes up an entire wall in the living room. It’s about six feet long and I thought we could make it about 4 feet long. In the end... it’s right back where it was... ;~)
Heh...closest Mrs. and I ever came to a divorce was when we still lived in our two-bedroom apartment in Arlington (pre-Jr.). We spent the entire day rearranging the living room/dining room area, and ended up with things back exactly the way they were...but a lot cleaner.
Halvah - being Halvah - is most interested in the paper the vase was wrapped in. She likes to sit on bags or paper. It's her thing. Go figger. She's still sitting just like that, five minutes later.
I like it! It is cheerful :~) It’s a good table. Maybe if you’re lucky you can eat at it... we can never eat at ours. It always has frap on it. :~)
That's what we did. We've (read *I've*) been talking about rearranging the furniture as a catalyst for cleaning and de-cluttering, but the room really works the best exactly the way it is. So we just pulled everything to the center, cleaned dust bunnies, rearranged the pictures on the wall and put it back. At least on two walls. The other two still need done... and they're the worst... containing our desks.
OK - so it still looks cluttered to the untrained eye, but that's as organized as a bunch of saddles and pads and bridles gets. I still think the rack could be cut two feet shorter. What would be cool would be a tall armoir (sp?) thing with doors that could hide some of the frap. See the new Hairy Dog Hunt club sign Ramius got me? ;~)
We also moved the bear so I could put my Estuaries and Streams posters up. The three posters, Wetlands, Estuaries and Streams are really neat in a tree hugger sort of way. They're limited edition prints that have all the local wildlife identified on them. We should have them framed too.
Someday maybe we'll get more furniture so there's actually someplace for US to sit.
Pippin likes to lay in all the plastic bags when we get back from grocery shopping. I always tell ecurbh that *good* parents don’t let their kids play with plastic bags.
FYI if you wanted to get ambitious...Jo-Ann’s frames are all at least 50% off right now. I got a frame for a painting I got at Goodwill last week.
It’s a rather nice painting. A lighthouse scene, which I know have been done to death, but it’s an interesting one with a storm rolling in and a rough sea.
I dunno where I’ll put it, but I couldn’t *not* buy it. It was two-fifty.
I’m a baaaad parent.
Halvah is still sitting on that paper. Just sitting. I don’t know...I don’t get it.
Good tip... we still have to frame the portrait I had enlarged of Bay... it’s going to go in the empty space under that collage...
Framing gets so expensive... But I don’t think those posters would have to be expensive, they wouldn’t have to be matted, they already look matted.
We still need art over the couch. I think the plan is still for me to paint something, so it may never happen.
I had HGTV on most of the day and told the wife I’m ready to do the kitchen. We’ve never painted since we had the ceiling repaired and the floor put in. We still want to get some cabinet and counter work done. And today was a weird day because I was thinking “red.” That’s not a good thing.
But for now, I’m goin’ to bed.
‘nite
Well, you could shoot a bear...
They also sell some pre-cut matting there, so there’s that. I didn’t end up using any for this painting as I think it looks OK without it. But for photos...yeah.
I still want to figure out a way to print out some digital photos so I can put some up here and there. I think the kiosks work OK, but I dunno what formats I can use. I don’t have a way to get photos back onto the little camera card, so I’d have to take a CD o something, I guess.
Well, I’ll go check it out this week.
That’s on the west side, right? Kindof down from Pier One imports?
