The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Okay, possible spoiler warning at this link. But is it who I think it is? This is from next week’s preview.

Ahhhh. Chickory Coffee. A most excellent way to start Caturday. When it warms up and dries up a bit, we’ll commence mulching. The dafodils are blooming and tulips are are up. We’ll be moving some plants around and removing a couple others.

My daffodils are gone. Tulips mostly gone.

I lack motivation.

Hmmm. Motivations? Well, you can always have another cup of coffee while deciding what to do. That counts, doesn’t it?

My daffodils finished blooming.

Do ya think it’s dry enough for a decent potter in the garden? I’ve got stuff to move (dunno where I’m going to put them, though.) I guess I could rake up some more leaves and pick up branches. I suppose I could put stuff in the front planter boxes....they’re not as wet.

And it’s still coming down...

My car’s all white, too.

Isn’t this a record or something?

*Sigh*

It’s the second half of April already and I still have the flannels out and the furnace running.

Do they make AlGore punching bags?

Beautiful pic, but that’s just wrong.

It’s 68 here. Not a cloud in the sky.

Hey...now there’s an idea...betcha they’d sell!

They’d make for a pretty big target.

It appears the betta has no motivation either. Either that or he’s dead.

Found out that whilst I was gone, Luke was ~also~ feeding him (in addition the Mrs.). He had stuffed-beagle syndrome.

It is a record... the previous record for late snow was April 17.

And this follows our breaking the record high of 79 last Saturday. :~)

He's just pining for the fjords.

Poor betta... :-\ Maybe leave him without food for two-three days and see how he does?

Work betta 2 doesn’t get fed on the weekends and he’s doing fine (now that I’m carting in water from home), so they don’t starve very quickly.

Heh...go figger.

Should that be 69? It wasn't really over 79, was it? Sure was nice, though.

Today...not so much. At least...I'm reconsidering doing many of my errands. And I *was* thinking about trying to figure out how commercial car washes work (never bothered with other vehicles, but thenewlittlecar needs cleaning and I don't want to scratch it...). Washing seems a bit pointless for the time being...

Yeah, that’s what I did. He seems okay now. But for the first few days when I came back I was concerned. I changed out the water and that seemed to help. He’s looking for breakfast now...

Yeah...I was gonna say, the water might have gotten grubby as a result, too.

Like I’m an expert...considering I’ve killed one in the last six months...

They’re *always* looking for breakfast. ;-) Little pigs they are.

Well, I can’t put this off any longer. There’s yard work to do.

Later.
