I’m sorry to hear this, Winmag...prayers for her, and for you and your family.
Dang! I just checked the “My Comments” page, and noticed that they’re no longer doing different colors for the TO and FROM pings. I liked that set up!
Holding steady, 150/100 when I first got up, 130/90 now. Still not good but no extreme spikes.
Now I’m officially taking four different medications. I’m a little down about it, but maybe this last pill will be the one that fixes the problem and I can get off one or two of the others...
~struggling to be optimistic~
I thought it was kinda busy...didn’t really like it.
I actually wish the fonts and all would go back to how they were.

Oh and yes...I went to the eye doc and he did the angiogram. The conclusion was that if I had the choreoretinopathy, it’s healed and not evident anymore. If I had a stroke that caused the loss of vision, then it wasn’t in my eye, but somewhere in the vision center of my brain.
Either way, my vision is blurry in that eye and I’m going to have to wear glasses.
Welcome to middle age presbyopia! I can't read anything these days without my glasses. I bought some wild colored ones, and put them on a chain around my neck! I keep them by the computer, so I can remember to put them on in the morning. I also keep extra pairs in the bathroom, next to the bed, and in my choir satchel. Except this past Sunday, I was in a hurry, didn't get on the computer before leaving, and walked off without putting the ones I use for choir back in the satchel, so I ended up at Mass without ANY glasses. Fortunately, we'd done the pieces so often that I knew my part by heart, so I didn't need the glasses. ;o)
And the morning and the evening were the fifth day.
And verily, there arose a stench of jambalaya to plague them, and they were sore plagued and begged for something like a flat cornbread, or ‘nillas.
Hope things are going well there! And that you’re taking pictures and notes...
It’s more like springerle. I’m just sayin’.
Heh...I emailed the Mrs. earlier this evening and told her I want bland American food on Sunday.
Well, nuts.
I’m traveling in SF again this week. Just got word from somebody back at the waterin’ hole that a very good friend of mine has died. One of my very best friends there. He was about my age, plus only a few years.
I don’t know any details, though I think he had a heart condition. I’m guessing for the moment that was it.
Well, damn.
I’ll get this round, Ken. [sip]
Prayers up.
Are you still in New Orleans? In what area of the city were y'all working?
So sorry to hear about your friend. Is this someone with whom you worked?
No, not somebody I worked with, he was another of the regulars there at my waterin’ hole in bvue. Somebody who counseled me in difficult days past and laughed at my stupid jokes. A kinder, more good-hearted man does not walk the earth.
Sorry about your friend. This is the watering hole in Bvue?
Hello everyone... I’ve not been around much! Been busy... we had to go down tonight to learn how to tend our friend Bob’s horses and alpacas for the weekend while they go somewhere.
Yah... it’s the waterin’ hole in bvue.
So here’s a message that I just sent out to somebody. Kinda tells you how my afternoon/evening went. The LAN in the home office here crashed at about 4pm. Was a busy time for a few hours:
[name redacted],
Were you using the [redacted] conference room at around 4pm today? I only ask because you had it checked out at that time. Perhaps somebody was having trouble with that rats-nest of wiring trying to get somebody connected to the network?
Well, what happened was that somehow both ends of a network cable were plugged into that little blue (Netgear) switch box. This is what’s called a “loop-back” and unfortunately... that’s bad. That’s what caused the network to crash late this afternoon.
Please let me be clear... I’m not seeking any kind of blame or anything for this. Nobody was hurt. I’m pretty sure we’ll all live. I’ll keep it in confidence if you have any further information about what happened. I just want to make sure that whoever did that knows not to do that ever again.
If you’re thinking (as a reasonable person might) that something as simple as that should really not be able to cause such a mess... you’re right. Newer network switches are smarter and don’t pass problems upstream like that. But the network switches in that part of the building just happen to be among the older equipment we have, and it’s not so smart. We already have a plan to do something about that. We just haven’t gotten to it yet.
For the time being, I’ve confiscated that blue switch box, and the rats-nest, and left one long cable that someone can use if they need. If you have any questions or needs for connectivity please call [redacted] on the IT line and we’ll set you up.
Regards,
[ramius]
Oh, sorry Rosie... you’ll enjoy the above too, I’m sure...
