SAN FRANCISCO, California (CNN) -- Police are investigating whether several items found in the enclosure of a tiger who fatally mauled a 17-year-old man show that the animal was attacked or taunted, San Francisco Zoo spokesman Sam Singer said Wednesday.
Police are examining a large rock, a tree branch and other items, Singer said.
"They [police] are trying to make a determination that those items or any other things that happened on Christmas Day were part of some attack on the tiger or something that angered Tatiana, causing her to come out of her cage," the spokesman said.
San Francisco Police Chief Heather Fong has said that a shoe print found on the railing at the tiger enclosure is being examined to determine if one of the victims climbed over the rail or threw their leg over the side.

You really don’t know that any of these young men did anything at all.
But you don’t know who was the stupid one ~ the designer? ~ the guys who filled in the moat with concrete? ~ the fellows who decided it was OK to leave the tops off the big cat cages?
You have not read every post in every thread and all the articles. I have.
Zoos tout themselves as "friendly" and you never see any of them point to the threat posed by the animals.
“You really dont know that any of these young men did anything at all.”
No. I don’t.
I am going on the evidence, so far. It’s all adding up.
Someone threw a rock, a stick, and a pine cone into the tiger pit. The stick and pine cone do not belong to any trees in the tiger pit.
What were three adolescents (19-20 year olds) doing at the zoo?
There was a bottle of vodka in their car, and slingshots.
The possibility is that they were drinking before entering the zoo.
Had they climbed over a fence and into an alligator pond, and thrown rocks at an alligator, then we wouldn’t be arguing about the height of a wall. Or would we?
Bottom line. Do NOT TEASE THE ANIMALS. That is not what they are in the zoo for.
THROW ROCKS at TIGERS, is definitely an “AT YOUR OWN RISK” type of behavior.
Something made this TIGER want to scale a wall that the TIGER had never tried to scale EVER BEFORE.
What do you think it was?
“Zoos tout themselves as “friendly” and you never see any of them point to the threat posed by the animals.”
They have these things called SIGNS that say “DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS”.
These young men did just that.
“”free of risk for being killed by an animal there”.
Then don’t hang out until dark, in a park that’s closing, and throw rocks at the tiger.
Typical, RBPA. You bring out the main liberal put down(racist) then start whining and sniveling that you are being attacked when I don’t put up with it. Did you graduate from the Clinton Prep School of Politics?
Here’s another little factoid for you. Did you know that govt agencies keep track of the number of women and minorities that they talk to about working for them, the number of applications they give to them, the number who apply, the number hired, and promoted? Did you know that the citizens of my state voted on an initiative that ordered the state not to take into account race or sex in hiring or promotion? The state simply changed the verbage of their policies and pressed on with the same affirmative action policy, and all state agencies are required to send a monthly report to the governor detailing, by percentages and numbers, the amount of women and minorities recruited and hired. The governor’s office has set “goals” for these agencies to achieve. These types of programs are prevalent in liberal states. I have many, many more examples after 30 years as a cop in three agencies.
So you see, appointing a minority female is a twofer as credit is received in two categories.
Oh, you didn’t know this? Maybe next time you should ask instead of shooting off your mouth and making stupid comments.
