I continue to wait for a Huckabee basher to tie more than two sentances together intelligently explaining their disagreements with Huckabee. Instead, they almost always resort to short insults that do nothing but reduce the quality of the Free Republic. I guess if you post Huck sucks frequently enough, you can reach a post count of which you will be proud.

I do not agree with his approach toward ILLEGAL immigration.

I don’t believe he is well-informed enough about foreign policy to be president at this time.

He increased taxes (cigarettes and gas) on Arkansans, and is apparently looking at losing weight as something that should be part of national policy. He thinks global warming is something we should change as a moral duty.

I also use my gut when deciding who I will vote for- though that is not the most important reason in my decision. I won’t tell you my gut reaction to Huckabee - but suffice it to say- I don’t trust him.

Huckabee has surged because he won a couple of debates and he’s got evangelical support. If a quick rise can happen to the liberal pro-life evangelical Huckster, it can happen to the conservative pro-life evangelical Hunter.

According to Intrade, the winner of the December 12th GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.

In this poll Hunter is up 3% and even with Paul and Thompson.

I was living in South Carolina during the flag flap—in fact, I stood at my girlfriend’s window two blocks from the Statehouse and watched them lower it for the final time. What Weaseley did in regard to the flag was nothing more than a political triangulating flip-flop. He ran on a platform of leaving the flag exactly where it was, and then as soon as he got in office, he started negotiating with the NAACP and black legislators to remove it.

I DON’T have much of a problem with the compromise as it ended up—an Army of Northern Virginia battle flag flies at the Confederate Soldiers’ Memorial, and the flag is off the top of the seat of government of the state. What I had, and still have, a serious problem with, is Weaseley’s total flip-flop on the issue. The GOP in South Carolina around that time was exceedingly strong, and he would’ve had no problem getting re-elected if he just stuck to his guns one way or the other—either hardcore for the flag, or for a reasonable compromise from the get-go. Instead, his flag flip helped cost him re-election and put Smilin’ Jim Hodges in power. After four years in the wilderness, the GOP came roaring back with Mark Sanford, a true conservative and an excellent governor.

Huckabee and Weaseley are two sides of the same coin, IMO.

I remember well the flame wars during the SC senatorial primaries when Beasly was running. I remember the same divisions between the SoCons and FisCons. Can anyone pinged to this thread on this post tell me now that they would have taken Cheesely over DeMint?

I am disgusted with his speech he gave at the LULAC gathering.

His son who hung the dog, is a sociopath and I have not seen Huckabee address this, except to make excuses and fire a law enforcement official.

What kind of person sets up a wedding registry 30+ years after they are married, so their supporters can furnish their new home? As I recall, the Clintons did this as well.

Of course, if you mention any of this, you are guilty of negative attacks and are un-christian.

Since you requested two sentences.

"Huckabee has a poor track record on issues that matter to real conservatives. He is liberal on almost all important issues including taxes, immigration, government intervention in peoples lives, WOT, etc. with the sole exception being his pro life stance."

If that doesn't count as sucking, you are either myopic or a single issue (pro-life uber alles) psuedo-conservative.

You said — “Huckabee has surged because he won a couple of debates and he’s got evangelical support. If a quick rise can happen to the liberal pro-life evangelical Huckster, it can happen to the conservative pro-life evangelical Hunter.”

Well, according to WorldNetDaily (and others) the reason for the Huckabee surge is “Chuck Norris” and his endorsement. If that’s the case, then it won’t make a difference for Hunter, because Norris probably won’t change and endorse Hunter, instead of Huckabee...

Mikey has a message for those of you who want to crack down on illegal aliens!

That was quite a statement. Huckabee has a rather basic mental defect. Weighed in the balance and found wanting. Let's move on.

You forget about the part where it says he has evangelical support, the key to unlocking GOP politics. As the evangelicals realize that this candidate is a weasel, they’ll focus on the only other evangelical in the race, the one who hasn’t flip-flopped on important issues: Hunter. There’s only one Chuck Norris, but there’s millions of evangelical christians who usually vote GOP.

Great News for Huckabee bashers.

Pointing out the very real fact that this guy, across the board, is arguably the most liberal of the candidates running, even more so than Giuliani, is not bashing - it is stating the facts. Nanny-state government of high taxes and strong pro-illegal immigration policies, to name just a few, are not principals I am looking for primarily as the nomination for our party. His change through the campaign in a misuse, in my view, of the Christian faith, has been very dissappointing. At first he would dismiss those claims stating he was not running to be a pastor, he was running to the be the President of the United States. I was proud of his answer when that silly evolution question was asked of him during that debate with CNN some months ago. Now, he has gone completely the opposite way for cheap political points.
