“...you’ve been told that “this much” (holds fingers three inches apart) is nine inches.”

Ah, the “penile inch.”

Interesting post - thank you for that. I avoid our zoo (L.A.) except for the mornings after a 3-day-weekend, when no field trips and fewer illegals have been able to plan to go.

If the kids were taunting the poor tiger, then I feel they got what they deserved.

Over at LittleGreenFootballs.com, one poster suggested the possibility that the cat might have been smart enough to jump onto the divider along the side near the rear, then walk over to the front

That’s one thing that has surprised me—no video of this so I guess no cameras were in place. I always think that everywhere I go now I’m under surveillance. I’m just surprised that a zoo wouldn’t haven’t cameras.

It has become increasingly clear that the tiger climbed over the wall of its enclosure, which at just under 12 1/2 high was about 4 feet below the recommended minimum for U.S. zoos.

Zoo officials said the zoo would reopen Thursday.

In the wake of the attack, the Oakland Zoo across San Francisco Bay plans to raise the height of the walls surrounding its tiger enclosure.
