"Smash Lab" (new show on the Discovery Channel) is a horrible ripoff of "Mythbusters."

I love "Mythbusters." It's fun, charming, full of personality, very scientific, and a great way to learn about science.

So now the Discovery Channel has made a new show called "Smash Lab." It's an obvious attempt at ripping off Mythbusters. However, it fails in every way possible. The characters have no personality. The show has no sense of fun, wonder, or amazement. It's absolutely horrible, in every way imaginable.

It’s obvious that they’re trying to replicate the success of Mythbusters, but I thought it wasn’t that bad.

Didn’t watch it, but I get the impression they just want to blow things up...and they think an audience similiar to mythbusters will like it.

I haven’t seen it, but Mythbusters has much more to it than a big bang.

I figured out it was a vapid ripoff of Mythbusters (one of my favorite shows) before the opening sequence ended.

Are you suggesting that there are some shows that are not ripoffs of other shows? Reality TV and the new game shows all seem pretty much variations on a theme.

Mythbusters is an original show. Yes, it’s kind of like a cross between Mr. Wizard and The Three Stooges, but it’s still pretty original overall.

Agreed switched channels.
