SAN FRANCISCO The San Francisco Zoo was closed to visitors Wednesday as police investigated a tiger attack they say may have been provoked by visitors' taunting the animal, leaving one man dead and two brothers injured.
Police searched the zoo to ensure there were no others injured and no more animals out of their cages after the Christmas day attack in which the 300-pound tiger, Tatiana, escaped its cage.

Did someone taunt this same tiger last year when it attacked one of the zoo staff? Or was it an aggressive animal to begin with? Was it an aggressive animal? LOL!, what part of "tiger" don't you understand?

they determined that the history - the attack on the keeper last year - was the keeper’s error - not the tigers.

Much like Sea Lions, there is a good reason they aren’t called Snuggly cuddle puppies.

Once again, animals suffer because of the stupidity of men. I have no remorse for people who do such things. Taunting animals is bad enough. But failing to maintain proper security in a zoo is worse.
Be assured the tiger didn't pick the lock on his own cage. Somebody, a keeper or another zoo employee, failed to secure the lock.
Direct your ire at them, first and foremost. They were responsible for two lives -- the victim's and the tiger's.

Just saw a photo of the enclosure on the news. Amazing the tiger was able to both cross the moat
and scale that 20 ft. rock wall.
"I think we're going to need a bigger moat."

Unfortunately, the dead person probably wasnt the one who taunted the cat.Fox News suggested otherwise.

Assuming she wasn’t let out...all wild animals are aggressive but some are just bad news. If the Tiger wanted out that bad...she may have made it happen. After getting out though did she go looking for these guys or just ended up there?

I agree. Tigers are not good or bad. They rely solely on instinct. If they feel threatened, they will do what it takes to survive. In a battle between a Tiger and unarmed men, you better believe the Tiger is going to win.

When officers arrived after responding to the 911 call, they "saw a tiger sitting next to a person who was sitting on the ground," Police Chief Heather Fong said. They then "yelled at the animal to stop. They did not fire immediately. ... when the yelling was occurring the animal turned toward the officers" and thats when the officers shot the tiger, she said.
This kills me, the chief is so PC that she is justifying why the cops had to use deadly force... I was OK with it at "they saw a tiger..."

It looks like it was probably provoked.
If so, those involved should pay as they caused the
Tiger’s death, also it is an endangered specie

I agree with you 100%, but I think the people who taunt caged animals should be pummeled.
But that’s just me.

They really must have pissed it off. Lesson for the Day:: If you’re going to taunt an animal, sick to something harmless (like Peacocks)
