I goofed on that previous thread, and the present one also without thinking about the difference between gastric bypass and banding.

I think I gave an opinion that was based on just speculation from a number of blogs. The latest technique is called laparoscopic gastric banding, aka "lap-band," IIRC. I don't know of any admission by Huckabee for any kind of surgery for losing weight.

A gastric bypass, Roux-En-Y operation(view image) is a more physiologially abnormal procedure than a "lapband"(view image) procedure which appears to just limit the potential volume of the stomach.

Well, I think it’s neat that he lost 100 lbs and improved his health. I respect him for that.
Do you also respect the drug addict who reforms? Personally I'm about fed up with everybody loving and respecting people who have to hit bottom (or 300+ lbs) before they get a clue.
Hey, maybe if we elect him he'll retaliate after our second or third city get nuked. I mean one city would just be a forgivable judgement lapse on the part of the terrorists. Besides, forgiving the first one would be "the Christian thing to do."

Can't we get enough replacement parts for Dick Cheney until someone actually qualified to be president decides to run?

I actually discuss the LAP-BAND business in my post: If Huckabee had surgery, was it gastric bypass or LAP-BAND? . My conclusion is that it was more likely to have been gastric bypass than LAP-BAND.

Gastric bypass (LYRGB) vs. LAP-BAND (LABG)LRYGB = gastric bypass LABG = LAP-BAND

If I want someone to help me lose weight, I’ll consider Huckabee. If I’m looking for president, the Huchster isn’t even in the phone book.

Huckabee has surged because he won a couple of debates and he’s got evangelical support. If a quick rise can happen to the liberal pro-life evangelical Huckster, it can happen to the conservative pro-life evangelical Hunter.

According to Intrade, the winner of the December 12th GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.

<>Like athletes who toy with drugs, animals are constantly, if unconsciously, performing the basic calculus: How much of my long-term health am I willing to sacrifice for the sake of short-term glory? Male cardinals and house finches become obsessed each fall with eating berries and other ruddy fruits, not for their nutritional value but for their carotenoids, the red and orange pigments the birds must acquire if their new crop of feathers are to beam brightly come spring. “Fruit is a poor-quality food in general, just a lot of sugar and water, and it would make more sense for the birds to ingest grain instead,” said Geoffrey Hill, an ornithologist at Auburn University in Alabama. But female birds are drawn to the most brilliant males, he said, so during the molting period, “if you don’t get carotenoids, you’ve got no hope.”

Thanks for the fine feathered friends ping...

$35,000 for 35,000 free copies from one of the largest companies doing embryonic stem cell reseach? A list of these funds was dated December 21, 2006.

Novo, of course, makes the bulk of its money on selling insulin. The debate over biologic equivalents in Congress is crucial to insulin sellers.
