NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS EVENING. AFTER MIDNIGHT
SUSTAINED NORTHEAST WINDS BETWEEN 25 AND 35 MPH WITH LOCAL GUSTS
TO 65 MPH ARE POSSIBLE BELOW CANYONS. THESE STRONG WINDS WILL
CONTINUE THROUGH CHRISTMAS MORNING...THEN DIMINISH DURING THE
AFTERNOON OF CHRISTMAS DAY.
WINDS THIS STRONG CAN TOPPLE TREES AND POWER LINES AND MAKE
DRIVING HAZARDOUS...ESPECIALLY FOR MOTORISTS WITH HIGH PROFILE
VEHICLES. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST COULD REDUCE VISIBILITY TO NEAR
ZERO AT TIMES.
A HIGH WIND WATCH MEANS THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING HIGH
WINDS. SUSTAINED WINDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH...OR GUSTS OF 58 MPH OR
Merry Christmas, Ernest. We have had gusts here that sounded like the roof is coming off. I heard KABC 7 say that some gusts were 100 mph. No trees down yet that I can see but there is a lot of debris all over the place.
