Jamie Lynn Spears, 16, has confirmed to OK! Magazine that she is pregnant. Oh. My. God.

A source tells us the interview, which hits stands tomorrow, is six pages and is on the record with Jamie Lynn and her mother. She tells the mag that the father is Casey Aldridge, who she has been dating for some time and first met at church. Brit's younger sister, star of Nick's "Zoey 101," says she's keeping the baby.

Do you put Fred Thompson and his first wife into the same category ("bereft of any morals")? Or is that different?

This stuff happens, and I bet quite a few of us on this board were "premature" babies (born less than 9 months after the marriage of our parents), it was just a secret then.

Looking back, I’d say they were more like 22 yr olds than 16. I have 3 daughters and none of them at that age ever seemed to be as mature as my 16 yr old steady girlfiend of 1959. I have a 25 yr old son today who I would think was 15 by 1959 standards. I guess 1959 age 16 is like 22 today and today’s 22 is like 1959’s.

Hmmm. I had my first (and only) at 35. Suited me and hubby just fine. Why on earth would I have a child in my 20’s (or teens!!!) when I wasn’t ready, I wasn’t married, and I was enjoying my life on my own? Call me crazy but it’s really no one’s business when or if someone decides to have kids...unless they are a teenager with a popular cable show and a very famous older sis, or you’re not famous at all, but expecting a public handout.

Its cliche, but times were different back then. Not much was known about contraception, etc. I'm not excusing it, but for a 16 year old to say she's shocked she's pregnant, means to me her parents failed to give her the facts of life and notion of contraception whatsoever- esp. in a time where AIDS and STDs are far more prevalent than when Fred was young.

Fred did the honorable and right thing back then. Perhaps Jaime and her boyfriend will as well. The difference is, I believe Fred learned a valuable lesson. I seriously doubt Spears will. Just look at her train wreck sister.
