HOUSTON -- The Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association is expected to cancel an appearance by Roger Clemens, according to a report by the Houston Chronicle. The THSBCA will hold an executive meeting on Tuesday, and though no decision was made on Monday, the organization had removed Clemens from its Web site.

"Nothing is final, but we will be meeting in regards to the issue," THSBCA president Jim Long told the Chronicle. "We would like to talk with Roger, and then decide on a course of action from there."

The report says Clemens was scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the group's convention on Jan. 12, with the topic being "my vigorous workout, how I played so long [in professional baseball]."

Clemens was identified as a user of performance-enhancing drugs in the Mitchell Report, released on Thursday. Clemens has denied the allegations.

Lots of people are disgusted by this new wave of scandal in baseball. Personally, I'm relieved that it was actually a level playing field this whole time and that Barry Bonds doesn't deserve an asterisk next to his name.

Accused = Guilt ?

And accused by a disgrunted ex-employee of the Yanks, no less. ...under huge pressure from the Feds to cough up names. ...any names.

"...a level playing field this whole time and that Barry Bonds doesn't deserve an asterisk next to his name"

So you think all (or even most) of the NL pitchers Bonds faced were juicing just as much as Beachball Head Barry was? (And for the record, Clemens pitched only 3 years in the NL. ...at the end of his career).

One can look at statistics and once someone starts performing better in professional athletics at the age of 35-40, it does appear contrary to the aging process. Does that mean they are guilty? no, was what they did against the law? no - does it appear they cheated, sure does for this fan on the street. I don’t care if they are fined, I would hope they would be left out of the Hall of Fame, and that really does sadden me as a baseball fan: Most hits - Pete Rose, most homers Bonds, most homers in a season Bonds, most Cy Youngs - Clemens - none will be in the Hall.
