Those contacted usually have been involved in Freepathons for some time. During such, one should be in a veritable frenzy of donations and urging others to do so, much as a rain dance.

You know, come to think of it, you can always holler “VOTE FOR HILLARY” really loud, I think you’d get plenty of attention from the Moderators then; including your fellow Freepers to be sure.
I've been involved in the Freepathons for some time now, but my best chance to get the attention of the mods is an uncouth comment. I get a pleasantly worded missive like "don't post that crap in news/activism." Sometimes I get a cryptic notice like "comment #3 removed by moderator." Otherwise, the whole process is mysterious.
Actually, I’ve always waited for the mods to contact me. “Have a nice week off.” s’cool.
