I live 130 miles from Denver. I live in a county with 15,000 people. I live 90 miles from Colorado Springs.
..........My comment wasn’t really about Linux at all.............
oh no no, I know it wasn’t. I was just making a counterpoint, you made it seem as though you thought that dems required the extra hand holding.
.............I know it’s hard to generalize but I would consider Linux users to be very advanced folks who would seem to me to be mostly apolitical............
They’re not. Just take some time to read slashdot for example. They’re rabid leftists.
.................I am likely 100 percent wrong and off my rocker, but hey, I am having a bad day............
Hah, we all have them. and don’t worry about ‘wrong’, that’s why I’m saying take a look around.
Thanks for the reply.
I’m still an old geek who likes to fiddle and do hardware things that aren’t absolutely necessary, sometimes just to see if I can do it.
I’m thinking of upgrading my perfectly fine dual core, perfectly quick, dual monitor PC to a quad core CPU with new MOBO with even more memory and another 2 monitors for a total of 4 monitors to watch the stock and currency markets, a live TV financial feed and all the political blogs (Freep, FrontpageMag, etc.) at the same time.
Of course this is not necessary or cost effective, but heck, I just want to see if I can do it. I was amazed when I built my first computer, turned it on and it didn’t explode and it worked! Me, I did that!
Of course I’m probably sucking all the electrical current out of my neighborhood and killing a whale or two with my environmental selfishness.
You’re right about laptops, they go obsolete so quickly and they’re so expensive for what you get. The prices of laptops seem to be getting better and more reasonable. I now like small and light after too many trips through airports with an 8 lb laptop.
I think a modular laptop so that you could change all the components and mobo’s every 6 months or a year would be nice. Keep the screen, keep the hard drive, change the mobo, cpu and ram. Laptops are just so much disposable junk after awhile.
And yes, ECS does make some good boards. They also have an Elite line. I had one PC maker of financial trading computers tell me that some of the ECS boards were faster than some of the more well known mobos. There are plenty of ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, ABIT boards that don’t work well and fail too.
Cheers and Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Not this one. And neither are most of the folks I work with. Maybe one out of the 14 in our department.
Try this.
