In John 10:30, Jesus states "I and the Father are one."
John 8:19-20 19Then they asked him, "Where is your father?"
"You do not know me or my Father," Jesus replied. "If you knew me, you would know my Father also." He spoke these words while teaching in the temple area near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his time had not yet come.
WHy would they want to seize him? Because he was making a claim to be God, which is blasphemy to Jews.
John 8:58-59: 58"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I AM!" 59At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.
Why would they pick up stones? Because when Jesus used the words I AM, they worn't just the words I am this or I am that. I AM is a name of God. He was claiming the very name of God. He was claiming to be God.

Thank you for reminding me of the particulars in that scene! It holds an important clue I’ve needed for something.
