Do you have any idea how the flax tax “Qs” with swing voters!!!!
It is a +41 issue!!!
1. Is that flat tax or fair tax? The flat tax was Forbes' signature issue, and he went nowhere.
2. If you are talking fair tax, you need to keep in mind that relying on polls and market research can be dicey, even today when we have better research tools than ever. Poll after poll last year and early this year showed a clear majority of americans in favor of "comprehensive immigration reform" or "a path to citizenship." Well, we all saw what happened with that stuff.
3. Do you really think swing voters are thinking "It'll be great to put a new tax in place while leaving Congress able to bring back income tax, and we can change the IRS into the Center for Investigating Single Moms and Retirees" or are they thinking "No IRS and no income tax sounds like a good idea"? Wisconsin polls show that the voters support a state-run universal health care plan, but the number drops like a rock in water as soon as you share just a few details of the actual operating proposals, and a single-payer plan that actually passed the state Senate died a slow death from constituent phone calls and a gubernatorial veto threat.
Show me that we have a defense against the potential talking points (and a way to get this passed in a Constitutional amendment) and I'll entertain the idea of the Fair Tax. But I won't ever entertain the idea of voting for Huckabee. He is a populist liberal, and I think we can do a lot better with Hunter, Thompson or even Romney.
