This is the live thread for the Tin Min on the Sci-Fi channel..
It all started to come together when they got to Mill Town.
I liked it. A new twist on an old story. I’ll view the rest of it.
I did note that the new metaphor for evil is not so much witches as the Police State. That's a fairly conservative viewpoint.
I was interested to see that everybody in Central City dresses like it's the 1930's and drive cars from the same era, since that was the era of the original movie. Perhaps America's more innocent time in the 1930's is now seen through the lens of nostalgia as a more ideal time.
There was never a doubt in my mind...
It only makes sense if you watch it listening to Dark Side of the Moon
Backwards
or something
The wizard, in that scenario, is supposed to be William Jennings Bryan.
What did you think?
I was quite disappointed. The actress, main one, who normally is a pretty good one, seemed to not fit the part. Her acting in this just not very convincing.
Frankly, it is flat out pretty lame. Enough holes in the plot, to make swiss cheese.
Very poorly written, two thumbs down. But, I’ll watch the conclusion since I’m already this deep into it.
That was the only good part, of the entire show! “Bad guy”, is smokin...
Not really watching Tinman...
Ok.....and.....why is that?
Do bats flying from boobies bother you?
Nothing really “bad” in the show, other than the acting, and storyline. Oh, some of the effects were lame. Actually, the movie might benefit from some “bad” to overshadow how bad the story is.
She is the Wicked Witch!
Who else thinks ole’ zipper head is her father?
Ever see "Bones" on the tube? That is her sister.
There was a "Making of The Tinman" on SciFi. It was better than this episode. It really played up the creation of the flying monkies. What I saw last night was totally disappointing. Very disjointed plotline. Half Indiana Jones, half total nonsense.

I’m enjoying the show - finding the connections to the original. I like the twist they have given to the name, OZ representing “Outer Zone” and the tutor being Toto... things like that. I’m finding it to be rather clever in parts.
I could point out virtually every scene, find something very wrong with it.
For example, the tin man. Yeah, he was inside that tin can for a couple years? Ok, what did he eat, bathroom, etc...
They drove that piece of junk, right to the steps of the ice castle thingy at the end...
The sister murders her younger sis? Oh come on now... Then the mommy breathes some of her life into her? Oh for crying out loud...
Then the Tin Man gets shot, falls out the window dead, but is back tonight. Oh guess some fish breathed something into him?
Ugh, this is why nearly ALL sci fi sucks, and Battlestar Gallactica is great. No “fuzzy animals” in BSG and there is a real plot with good and bad consequences in it.
Agreed, it has some neat things in it. I like the leather coated nazi bad guy thing. But, the story line and plot/motive is very weak, and some of the acting is pretty lame too.
They could have done much better.
OH sure - but I wasn’t expecting major movie quality
Have you ever heard of magic? With magic you suspend your disbelief.
This is Science Fantasy and should not be judged in the same way as Science Fiction.
Actually the story in the original novel was pretty dark, the Judy Garland movie was much cheerier. I like the music in this show but I lean towards classical music.
