My goodness WJ, what else could I have been talking about? Of course it was my duty weapon. 8^). Here in California, I use Outers oil. When I move to Arizona, I will switch to Dry Slide. I like the weapon, but it has a tendency to rust quickly and I have to clean / oil it every few days.

Nope, a squid nowhere near any water. Although contracting seems like a possible outcome, somewhere in my distant future.
Have a great day there!

Thanks PE for pictures of the kids, we have taken trips with your family and seen some wonderful things. Love the pictures!

WOO HOO!! Good morning everyone!

Today we see the hobbled old man
broken and bent, weary and worn
while, we await, a New Year born.
The old year carries the lamp of hope
perhaps for finding new ways to cope
to take off pounds of excessive weight
to make resolutions without a mistake

So this day we are face with a task
fete preparations should be a blast.
Fireworks exploding, food trays tempting
our tummies to indulge in the repast!

So hip hip hooray! The Eve of the New Year today!

Soaring twisted my arm, so I’m adding this here:
I made up the first quick version while waiting for the welders, machinists (from Chalmers), and the Radiographers (X-Ray techs) inspection team on Christmas Eve at the power plant, and NNB came back with some (much kneaded) edits, then I added a few other rays to the his changes.
Looks like this right now:
. . .
Twas the night before X-rays, and all through the Hall,
the grinders were screaming their shrill siren call,
Dayshift was sleeping, asleep in their beds,
with versions of changes still shifting their skeds,
The chainfalls were hung by the tool room with care,
in hopes that Chalmers-Kubeck soon would be there.
The OOC and OPS were manned with the best management,
but theyd quickly be gone - far away theyd be sent.
The source soon arrived, with a label that read,
If you can read this, youre already dead!
Poor Rudolphs explained: He stooped too close,
Got a glow in his nose from an unhealthy dose!
Everyone else was safe and cocooned,
Herded behind strings of yellow, tagged and marooned.
On Cobalt! Shine through with your bright blue,
Let Iridium glisten with a shimmering hue,
Use X-ray and Gamma, add Cosmic for us!
Leave no Scent of Flaws in your quick rush!
Neutron is fast, yet its half lifes so old,
Check Beta and Positron, Alphas too light to hold!
(And leave Iron and Lead to shield this poor sled!
... Theres no rhyme or reason in exposing more red!)
Merry Christmas to all,
and to all a good night!

Thank you, Cook! A very nice addition to the Lair. Now don’t be a stranger here. We got some rocking Military guys that hang around here.

Okay, Kathy In Alaska, all this food is making my tummy growl. Beside that, the danged furnace is ending the year with fits of not kicking on. Doesn't like to work nights I guess.
I have called the landlord and reported the stubbornness of the old curmudgeon.
Thanks for helping us make the Lair a fun and safe thread.
To: NY Attitude; WayzataJOHNN; All
I just pulled a double shift and I still have to oil my weapon and it was misting today. No sense in having a dirty or rusty weapon. Tomorrow comes early (3:30) so I wont be long in the Lair tonight.
"I won't be long in the Lair tonight" (quote NYA)
my brains are fried, I am a sight
three thirty AM comes to soon
I am up and tearing around the room
my uniform all pressed and neat
'til that darned Callie takes to her feet
she walks around my legs, shedding her hair
I tell you that stuff goes with me everywhere!
Then to add insult to injury, she gives me the snub
her feelings are hurt again it seems
I'll just toss down some catnip and let her dream!
Out the door I go in a hurry,
Callie, is spinning around in a flurry
NYA hopes the nip will hold, especially if
he has to do double duty!
The stories retired Sailors can weave
will make one's head spin in disbelief
WayzataJohnn, has so many to tell
he's putting them in books
which he and we hope will sell.
I guess I have done enough ribbing in here
I'll take up my pen on another thread, oh dear
I promise with the fresh new coming year
my poetry will be keen and interesting
just to keep you all here.
LOL SF

Part 1
A warm fire in the hearth a wizard reading, in the dark the winds, a howl on the wall

Lord and Lady, walk the hall unseen shapes, shadow them a darkened moon, holding court in an abyss of black, with the goddess of the mark.

A mystery, we shall tell, from dark times, before the dawn. The unicorn, pure and white feed in the marshes by this light.

Part II
A wizard did foresee a dragon lurking bout breathing fire out his snout such fiery wrath the wizard neer saw the writing on the dungeon wall.

War and ravage strewn round. The town folk cower in their shacks, the dungeon halls filled with racks, and stacks of golden whips echo a clanging sound, shackles hang off the walls, while rime covered stone and step.
In the great hall round the hearth the Lord and Lady hold their court. This retched thing has spoiled their space. Knights of the Round Table pace wrinkled brow and anxious face the evil thing chills their bones their pints grow warm holding them in their grip.

Little Wee Folk scurry round the fear saturated in their bones. Their homes threatened now little families live in fear as the dragon roars in their ear.
The unicorn stiffens in the glen while the castle hounds wail and bay the utter destruction to come its way.
Old wizard drags some smoke from the bong with a long toke the answer some where in there.
A unicorn without blemish bound to behold the sword a knight must hold the sword and drive it through the heart of the beast.

The winds will bear the bleating of the slain white unicorn. Carry the sound silently to the stars each wind will gather up the new born stars place them North, South, East and West. the outline of the unicorn shall rest in old cold skies a subtle reminder of the wizard dragon of olden days.
