I miss Riggins style football.
IMO, the new rules in the NFL rid the league of players who hit hard, celebrated harder and tried to beat their performance the next week.
LOL...you mean celebrated like Riggins drinking himself under the table in front of a crowd...:)
I sure did enjoy watching him run...a real beast of a running back.
Sat down and watched this game in the second half.
My impression, without being too wordy: the NFL is officially rigged. Pun intended.
Which particular call did you think was wrong?
I just read a collection of postgame quotes from the Baltimore locker room.
They think they lost the game completely at the hands of the refs.
They are clueless and classless. Baltimore beat themeselves. EVERY SINGLE PENALTY CALLED WAS LEGITIMATE, and the Ravens did a lot more that didn’t get called.
The sound like a bunch of dumb-ass criminals, who after committing a stupid crime and ending up in jail, blame it on harassment by “the man”.
They fully deserved what they got.
I have a lot more respect for the Eagles. They played hard, but weren’t filthy dirty in doing it. They were also a lot more willing to face up to their shortcomings.
Yeah. My question as well.
If the Ravens defense should be mad at anyone it’s Rex Ryan.
It was definitely not “firmly held”, either. Could’ve rocked off his palm-heel if not for luck.
Great teams find a way to win.
The Patriots qualify as a Great Team.
Steve Young had it right after the game last night. Every team goes through lulls or bad games...it’s jut that the Patriots have managed to still win theirs.
Yep.
What the Patriots learned last night is every game they play til the end of their season is a ‘playoff game’ to those they face.
Thats what makes going undefeated so difficult, thats why we’ve seen teams win 10, 12, 13 games in a row finally lose, usually to a team that doesn’t have the same caliber of players.
All that matters in the end is that they win three games in the post season.
‘All that matters in the end is that they win three games in the post season.’
Hmmmm. If that was ‘strictly true’ why was Don Shula in the booth during the game? Why do we get inundated with ‘72 Dophins have Champagne on Ice’ every year?
Yep, the goal is winning the Super Bowl.
But when you get this far into a season with a perfect record, with each passing game that quest grows larger, and more important.
In July, during camp, the goal is the Super Bowl. In early December, with a undefeated streak on the line, its the most important thing going on at the moment for the team involved.
Other thoughts after last night....
Last night looked a lot like what we used to see back in 2003 and 2004 from the Pats. They found a way to get it done. Someone managed to step up and make plays when the game was on the line.
The Ravens were flooding the passing lanes with 7 or 8 guys at a time which limited the Pats and yet they still managed 5 scoring drives that really should have resulted in 5 TDs if not for drops. And this in some very bad throwing conditions.
The Ravens D played a very strong game and better than we have seen many teams play.
The Pats have certainly been challenged in three games this year and have come from behind twice to win.
It was nice to finally get a few calls from the refs last night. The Gaffney call could have gone the other way but did it meet the standard of irrefutable? The Ravens also screwed themselves last night with several bad penalties. They held the entire game and were lucky that they didn’t get flagged several more times. They also talked trash all night and acted like they were all University of Miami graduates from the 80s and 90s.
ILB is a real weak spot for the Pats.
Seymour looks like he finally woke up and decided to play last night.
Adalius Thomas looked really lame on the edge last night. Wilfork got turned left and right all night.
Brady took too long on his reads in many cases.
Maroney needs to get the ball somehow. He picked up 80 yards on two catch and runs.
Believe me, it was like that in Miami even when the Dolphins were good.
Yup. And young too. We have decade of awesomeness at QB ahead of us.
For an on the field call to be overturned, there must be firm consensus and evidence.
The fact that many uninterested parties have differing opinions on that particular play makes it evident that the on the field ruling must stand.
If they should be mad at anyone, they should be angry at themselves for their lack of discipline and personal accountability.
Even if that touchdown pass had been overturned (which I doubt even after the fact because it would have to be conclusive to overturn the call on the field, and it was not) the Patriots would have had the ball on the two yard line due to the poor sportsmanship of their defensive players.
I heard this morning that one of their players was upset because the ref called him “Boy” up to five times. I’ll bet dollars to donuts the ref called him “boy” because that is what he was probably acting like.
I side with the ref on that. These jerkoffs want to act like children and be treated as adults. I say treat them as children.
I’m listening to Vince Wilfork on the radio right now and he’s commenting on just that subject. His main point is that they’re taught to understand that they can’t let their temper hurt the team.
C'mon, it's not that bad.
Did I miss anything? LOL. Watched the 2nd half this morning ... unbelievable!
