Spocktacular: Stars trek to Agua Dulce

The much-anticipated 11th film in the "Star Trek" franchise shot scenes Monday and Tuesday at Agua Dulce's Vasquez Rocks.

Though the sizable Paramount Pictures production was shrouded in secrecy, it was visible to drivers on the Antelope Valley Freeway with a large crane, lighting equipment and several trucks stationed in front of the location's distinctive stone peaks.

The production was identified as "Corporate Headquarters," the name director J.J. Abrams is using to keep his "Star Trek" prequel under wraps.

A recent Burbank casting call for "Corporate Headquarters" sought extras who "are OK with their eyebrows being shaved from the arch outward to portray a Vulcan-type eyebrow shape."

The film was scheduled to shoot through today at Vasquez, then move on to downtown Los Angeles, according to a source.

At least three police cars stood guard Tuesday at the entrance to the site on Agua Dulce Canyon Road. Proprietors of nearby businesses said they hadn't noticed anything unusual. A lot near the Agua Dulce General Store was being used as a crew parking area.

The 11th "Star Trek" movie reportedly will feature the early exploits of a young Capt. Kirk and Spock at Starfleet Academy, along with their fellow U.S.S. Enterprise crew members.

The young Spock will be played by Zachary Quinto of "Heroes" with Leonard Nimoy making a cameo appearance as the aging Vulcan.

The rest of the cast includes Chris Pine as Kirk, Zoe Saldana as Lt. Uhura, Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy, John Cho as Mr. Sulu, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Chekov, Winona Ryder as Spock's mother and Eric Bana as the villain Nero.

"Star Trek XI" is being directed by Abrams, creator of television's "Lost" and "Alias" and helmer of "Mission: Impossible III." It is scheduled for release in December 2008.

They filmed at least one episode of the original series here:

How tight is the security on the script? If you know Star Trek fans, I won't be surprised if its not already on the Internet.

Seeing the rocks it has to be the episode where the advanced species drops Kirk on the planet and he has to fight the lizard man.
Somehow they will spin it into an anti-war pro peace movie and ruin the movie series forever.

There was a really cool episode of Enterprise I watched the other day that featured a Gorn.
Also featured a ship from a 100 years in the future, The Constellation Class USS Defiant.
I dug it.
