You are correct. Kansas did not play a particularly tough schedule. Missouri was their toughest opponent this year.
I wasn’t at all believing that that they were the legitimate #2 team.
But they did play credibly and I’m sorry that they lost. They will receive a very nice bowl bid and in the long run, this year will only help their recruiting efforts.
Kansas has been building up to this for several years now. Two years ago, they got a surprise invite to the PlainsCapital Fort Worth Bowl where they beat up on a supposedly better Houston team.
Step by step, Mangino and his staff seem to be doing it all just fine.
