The Sierra ski season is under way, but skiers and snowboarders aren't finding much snow on the slopes.
Thanksgiving weekend is traditionally when ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe region fire up the chairlifts.
But warm November temperatures in the mountains have meant that the sparse snow found so far has been made by the resorts themselves.
Even then, most of the runs that are open are short and low on the hills.
Last winter was unusually dry in the Sierra Nevada.
Snowmelt from the mountains provides much of California's fresh water supply.
Tahoe resorts say most slopes should be open by Christmas.
Time for the global warming crowd to make this news.
I have a friend who owns a water store. The state just sent him notice that they will close his store and other stores that deal with car washes, etc. Socialism alive and well in California...the rest of the nation will follow esp if the dems get elected in this next presidential election.
mudslides
For now, artificial snow will do the trick

Predictions abound for a dry winter season
Your friend is one more victim in the Western Water Wars that have raged for years.. It is a mess ,, a major one and to rely on those who got us into it to now get us out,, Yeah right!
Sad because there is almost ZERO waste in purchased bottled water
Two and three years ago, there were good positive anomalies and it rained cats and dogs. Europe, on the other hand is getting snow and ski-resorts have opened early.
Wow,, strange huh,, some things run in cycles, I hear..
just a couple years ago,,

I've never skied on decent man-made snow. It feels like skiing on sand.
Tahoe resorts say most slopes should be open by Christmas.
That's a bummer for all the skiers and snowboarders.
he told me that laundromats, car washes, etc, types of businesses will be closed. What is a person to do,
the state’s governing purpose is to supply essentials for survival. support the instructure so everything runs.
they have failed miserably.
