Just an FYI: I searched thru Whitman’s “Leaves of Grass” for just the word “freedom” (on www.bartleby.com); couldn’t find this quotation or anything resembling it. (Like the pit bull terriers on the sweatshirt I’m wearing, I’m not letting this one go yet! Please, please ping me if you get a definitive answer.)
