In one of the interviews, Tom Hanks talks about how this guy Charlie Wilson was a real patriot who won the Cold War singlehandedly, and how there was no hypocrisy in his actions and deeds, etc.. Julia Roberts gushed over this guy, you get the idea.

That's bizarre because usually in lefty talking-points, Charlie Wilson's actions vis a vis Afghanistan are cited as Exhibit A for how 9/11 was "blowback" and we "created" Osama bin Laden. I guess consistency takes a back seat when you're a lefty and trying to sell a movie.

Agreed. As a matter of fact, consistency is not important to them, but expediency is.
