I have no desire to return to Vietnam nor to Tay Ninh, but have wondered if any of the buildings / bunkers I lived in were still standing.

I remember the lines of rubber trees from the old French plantations on the road between Tay Ninh and Cu Chi. Miles and miles of trees, all in a straight line, evenly placed.

Appreciate the lat/long on google.

If you get to Tay Ninh, take a ton of pix.

I was based at Danang Air Base in 68-69-70. In the 90’s, I worked in Saigon; I had a business trip once to Hai Phong, the return was a broken itinerary with a plane change in Danang. I was happy to go there to see some of the sights for recollection just like you describe.

The jungle had reclaimed virtually everything; there was little sign of the former Air Force Base though it was clear that it is now the HQ of the VN Air Force since there were about 100 Migs parked in a big formation visible from the small terminal.

There is not much left of old US installations at all. Everything has been salvaged- recycled. Viet Nam is just about the most pleasant way to spend 2 weeks or a month there is. It is still cheap. For a little while longer.
